In Lugano!!! Many years ago, we were students at ESASO, dreaming of a career in the retina field. The center was small and inside one of the hospital in Lugano😊 back then.
As a professor at ESASO, I get to witness something truly special in our new center every year. This place is unique—honestly, as an education center with all facilities . They have got incredible wet-lab: all types of wide-angle viewing systems, brand-new vitrectomy machines, even chandelier lighting, microscopes and screens that let you see everything clearly. Plus, there’s no shortage of eyes to practice on or supplies like heavy liquids, silicone oil, dyes, sutures, forceps with perhaps the most experienced company staff helping to students. Trainees practise a whole afternoon in a week for vitrectomy, then they even switch to pupilloplasty, and dive into trabeculectomy flaps when they get bored of vitrectomy😀🙈. It’s intense, hands-on, and rare to have all these procedures in one session. congratulations to all the effort behind making this facility unique.
